Play Day Rodeo

Location - North Utah County Equestrian Park- 9400 N 6800 W


A long-standing Highland Fling tradition is our Play Day Rodeo. This year we want to thank Schows Equine 4-H and Schows Ranchette for running the event! Be sure to join us for a fun-filled day you won’t want to miss!

Flag Ceremony (3pm) - Indoor Arena

Ceremony will be put on by the Highland City Jr. Rodeo Queens, sponsored by Schow's Ranchette.

Stick Horse Rodeo (3:15pm) - Indoor Arena

Stick Horse Rodeo is free for all the little cowboys and cowgirls. You may bring your own stick horse to ride on an obstacle course or use one provided. All participants may visit the petting zoo, rope a plastic steer or rooster and have their picture taken. Awards will be given to participants. 

Playday Rodeo (4pm)

(Classes held in the indoor arena. Timed events in the outdoor arena)

  • Indoor Arena Classes

    • Stick horse race: **Free**
    • Leadline: 8 and under
    • Western pleasure: 8 and under, 9-12 years, 12-15 years, 16 and older
    • Match Pairs: 2 riders compete together western. Try and stay side by side at various gaits and through turns.
    • Trotting race: Trot slow and steady get riders out by making them pass you but be careful not to walk or you'll be out too.
    • Bareback: Walk trot and lope bareback
    • Musical Mats: Class is bareback. Like musical chairs, when the music stops, claim your spot before you get out. 
    • 1$ Race: Bareback. Hold $1 under your leg the longest and win everyone else's $$.

  • Outdoor Timed Events

    • Barrel Racing: Clover leaf pattern. Gate is open till all registered numbers run.
    • Poles: Will be available after barrels and can be run until all registered numbers are run.
