Code Enforcement Process

Procedure for Code Enforcement

  1. Resident files a complaint via Request Tracker
  2. Staff performs a site inspection.
  3. A letter is sent to the property owner identifying the violation and requesting compliance within an appropriate timeframe (typically 14 to 60 days depending on the violation).
  4. The site is re-inspected for compliance.
  5. If the violation has been corrected, the case is closed and a thank you letter is mailed to the property owner.
  6. If the violation has not been corrected, a notice of violation is issued and a final inspection is performed.
  7. If the violation is still not corrected, a citation is issued and the case is given to the City Prosecutor for prosecution.
