Leland Roy & Lavern Ercanbrack Gappmayer
The Gappmayers built a basement home at Number 85 (on the 1958 Highland map) and lived there for a few years before moving to Orem. Leland was born April 3, 1928, in Orem to Roy H. and Florence B. Gappmayer, and LaVern was born three days earlier, March 31, in Mona, Utah to Clement LeRoy and Venice Vest Ercanbrack. They were married August 11, 1947, in the Salt Lake Temple and had nine children: Kathy, Gayle, Michael, David Bertl, Debra, JoDee, Marianne, Rebecca, and Roy.
LaVern was involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a Primary teacher, Sunday School teacher and in the Relief Society Presidency - most of this activity was after she moved from Highland. In 1971 she was in a severe auto accident and was left a quadriplegic for her remaining thirty years. She died April 30, 2001, in Orem and is buried in the Orem City Cemetery.
