Lower Power Plant
John Elmer & Elaine Woolley Elggren
John was born December 11, 1909, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert John and Vilate Elizabeth Lewis Elggren. He graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Electrical Engineering and went to work for Utah Power and Light in 1934. He married Elaine on October 10, 1934, the ceremony being performed by David O. McKay. Elaine was born May 29, 1916, in Bountiful, Utah to Thomas Matthew and Wilda Artulus Cook Woolley. They had six children: Patricia Anne, Barbara Elaine, John Elmer Jr., Thomas Woolley, Mark Daniel, and Robert Earl. Their church membership records came to Highland in 1935 and since he was working for UP&L, it is assumed they lived at the power plant (Number 68 on the 1958 Highland map). They were living in Bountiful in 1940.
Elaine died July 22, 1971, and John married Marva May Saunders Young on December 11, 1980. John died June 7, 2002, in Centerville and he and Elaine are buried in the Centerville City Cemetery.
