George Fredrick & Phoebe Ellen Porter Ellis
The Ellis family lived in Highland (Number 48 on the 1958 Highland map) circa 1947 to 1952 when they had a number of teenagers. George was born June 1, 1897, in Layton, Utah to Arthur Henry and Amelia Janette White Ellis. He served in the Army in WWI from September 28, 1917, to April 12, 1919. Phoebe was born May 5, 1908, in Bountiful, Utah to Edwin President and Sarah Phoebe Moss Porter.
George and Phoebe were married November 14, 1924, in Ogden, Utah and lived in Layton in 1930, 1935 and 1940. They had seven children: Phoebe Amelia, Clara Louise, Lillie Marie, Arthur Edwin, Ruby Ellen, Freda Hope, and Thomas Henry. Some of the children participated in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but the parents seldom did. Marie was a Sunday School teacher in 1948.
George passed away on October 29, 1964, in Salt Lake City and Phoebe died April 19, 1989, in West Jordan. They are buried in the Farmington City Cemetery.
