The City's Master Plan includes a connection from Madison Avenue to Canal Boulevard and for the connected road to be a collector road. With the development of the property south of Lone Peak High School (Ridgeview) and the potential development of the Rhinehart property (between 6630 West and Mountain View Drive), this plan will likely shortly come to fruition.
In response to resident concerns about Madison Avenue/ Canal Boulevard becoming a collector road, City staff held a meeting on Tuesday, July 2, 2018 to discuss design, speed limits, traffic calming measures and pedestrian safety. You can see a copy of the presentation from the meeting below.
The road will not connect until the Rhinehart property is developed. It is the City's understanding that development plans are being created for the property, however none have yet been submitted to the City.
In response to resident concerns relating to this issue, the City recently conducted a traffic study on the collector roads south of SR 92 (Timpanogos Highway) and west of Alpine Highway (5300 West). These roads include 10400 North, 9600 North, and Canal Boulevard. City staff will report on the results of the study on Thursday, November 21 at 6:30PM in the Council chambers. All residents are invited to attend.
